Hi, I’m Kim.
I’m so glad you found your way here, though I wish it were under different circumstances.
I was only 37 years old when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had just married the love of my life and we were excitedly planning our future together. Then, in an instant, everything changed when I heard the words:
“You have breast cancer.”
Like so many others, I was overwhelmed by fear, uncertainty, and countless questions. I wanted to know what would happen next, what recovery would really be like, and how life could ever feel normal again.
There was plenty of medical information online, but there was also an overwhelming amount of frightening, and often outdated, information. I found myself doom scrolling for hours, and instead of leaving with answers, all I left with was more fear.
What I really needed was a safe space where I could gather reliable information and encouragement without constantly stumbling across scary statistics. I also longed to connect with others who truly understood what I was going through. More than anything, I needed to know there was hope.
As I navigated appointments, surgery, treatment, and recovery, I began keeping notes of the advice and lessons I learned along the way.
Those experiences became the foundation for Pink Sage Project.
I created this space to be the kind of resource I wish I’d had when I was first diagnosed - one that offers clarity when things feel uncertain and reassurance when the road ahead feels overwhelming.
No matter where you are right now, I want you to know:
You are not alone.
There will be difficult days, but there can also be hope, healing, and moments of unexpected strength along the way.
Thank you for being here. I hope something you find on Pink Sage Project makes this journey feel just a little less overwhelming and reminds you that there is hope, even in the hardest seasons.
—Kim
Why Pink Sage?
The morning of my first radiation treatment, I was sitting on my couch feeling anxious about what was to come. I looked up and saw a beautiful hummingbird outside my glass door. It hovered there for quite a while, peering in at me, as if silently letting me know that everything was going to be okay. Over the next several weeks the hummingbird continued to appear before my treatments. It became a beautiful symbol of hope during one of the most difficult and uncertain seasons of my life.
Pink Sage Project got its name because hummingbirds are naturally drawn to the pink sage plant. Just as the hummingbird was for me, I want it to be your symbol of light in your darkest moments, a source of comfort through uncertainty, and a reminder that you can find unexpected strength when you need it most.
